It was again struck in 1934 and 1935. These genuine silver dollars were only issued by three branches of the United States Mints: Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. While the better-known Morgan Silver Dollars of the 1800's had extremely large mintages at seven mints, far fewer Peace Silver Dollars were originally minted. • A Growing Future Demand - Due to the limited number of years of mintage and the lower mintage totals, Peace Silver Dollars have always been harder to collect. Other factors also come into play. The wholesale melting of silver dollars during World War II destroyed millions of Peace Silver Dollars. Then in 1964, the U.S. Mint halted the minting of all U.S. silver coins. This created a tidal wave of collector demand and every single Peace Silver was removed from circulation forever. In recent years, over 136 million new coin collectors started collecting new State Quarters.
